Aloha mai kākou!

My name is Jessica Kawehionālani S. Perry-Ah Hoy. But you can call me Kawehi! In Hawaiian, Kawehionālani means The adornment from the heavens. Flowers and lei making have been an integral part of my life from childhood, hula, pulling the car over to pick flowers, etc. I've found that gifting leis to loved ones can be one of the simplest yet biggest gestures of love/ appreciation.

I created Lei by Wehi in January of 2022 to share my aloha (love) and appreciation of Native Hawaiian flora. I continue to learn more about the vast Native Hawaiian plants that are traditionally used in lei-making and can be found in our everyday lives. I use lei-making as a creative outlet and as a way to introduce others to Native Hawaiian flora.

As a proud Native Hawaiian Entrepreneur, my mission is to reclaim the true meaning of lei in Hawaiian and Polynesian culture. I strive to foster cultural appreciation and educate others with the knowledge of different types of Native Hawaiian flora, various styles of lei making, and how the styles of making lei influence the names of the lei.
